Atishi, Delhi Water Crisis: Atishi from AAP Hospitalized in ICU due to Hypoglycemia During Hunger Strike

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that the 43-year-old water minister was admitted to the emergency ICU at Delhi’s Lok Nayak Hospital due to a drastic drop in her blood sugar level. According to the party, her blood sugar level fell to 43 at midnight and further dropped to 36 at 3 AM, leading to the hospitalization on the advice of the LNJP Hospital doctors.

The party posted pictures of the minister being taken to the hospital and expressed prayers for her speedy recovery. Ms. Atishi, in a video message on her official channel, accused Haryana of depriving nearly 28 lakh people of Delhi by releasing 100 million gallons per day (MGD) less water.

She mentioned the deteriorating condition of her health, with dropping blood pressure and sugar levels, weight loss, and high ketone levels. Despite the impact on her body, she affirmed her commitment to continue her hunger strike until Haryana releases water.

The party also issued a statement highlighting the unexpected decrease in the water minister’s weight, noting a reduction of 2.2 kg in just four days of the hunger strike. Previously, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena discussed the water issue with AAP leaders and conveyed Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s assurance to look into the possibility of providing extra water to the city.
