Heavy Rain Expected in Delhi-NCR Over Next 2-3 Days, According to the Weather Office

On Thursday, parts of Delhi saw heavy rainfall, bringing relief from the intense heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts generally cloudy skies and varying intensities of rain with gusty winds for the next seven days. Specifically, on June 28, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected with similar temperatures to the previous day and wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h.

June 29 is expected to be slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 36°C. Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely, accompanied by winds of 30-40 km/h. On June 30, temperatures will drop further to 34°C, with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds.

July 1 and 2 are forecasted to have thunderstorms with moderate rain, with temperatures maintaining a high of 34°C and a low of 27°C. Wind speeds are expected to range from 25-35 km/h. The weather conditions may lead to minor traffic disruptions and increased risk of vehicle accidents due to water accumulation on roads.

Residents are advised to check for traffic congestion before traveling and avoid areas prone to waterlogging. The IMD noted that the conditions favor further advance of the southwest monsoon into additional parts of North India, as heatwave conditions have diminished across the country. The IMD anticipates favorable conditions for the monsoon’s advance to parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu in the next two to three days.
