Andhra Minister’s Wife Confronts Cop for Making Her Wait: “Isn’t It Morning Yet?

Haritha Reddy, the wife of the Andhra Transport Minister, was captured on video scolding a policeman named Ramesh who stood at attention and saluted her at the end of the incident. The incident occurred in Rayachoti, Annamayya district in the erstwhile Kadapa. It happened while she was en route to a function for distributing enhanced pensions to beneficiaries. In the video, Ms. Reddy can be heard questioning the policeman about his lateness, lack of uniform, and the absence of a police escort for her convoy.

She also questioned whether the policeman’s salary was paid by the government or the YSRCP. The assembled crowd observed in silence as the Sub Inspector was being lectured. Following the scolding, the policeman saluted the Minister’s wife and went about his work as directed, leading the convoy. Critics have pointed out that a Minister’s wife, unlike a Minister, is not entitled to receive a police escort or formal protocol.

So far, there has been no official reaction from the government regarding the incident.
