PM Modi Advises NDA MPs to “Follow Rules” After Lok Sabha Row with Rahul Gandhi

The Prime Minister addressed the NDA parliamentary party meeting this morning. He delivered his first address to NDA MPs since assuming office for the third consecutive term.

The meeting was attended by top BJP leaders and ministers. After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed the media that the NDA MPs congratulated the Prime Minister on his third term and pledged their unwavering support.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of serving the nation and urged NDA MPs to prioritize this objective. He also provided guidance on conduct within the Parliament, emphasizing the adherence to rules, maintenance of parliamentary democracy, and upholding of Parliamentary traditions.

Minister Rijiju highlighted the Prime Minister’s message, noting his call for MPs to follow Parliamentary traditions and maintain decorum. He also emphasized the need to avoid disrespectful behavior in the House, citing an incident involving Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

The Minister clarified that the meeting did not focus on Mr. Gandhi’s remarks or the recent commotion in Lok Sabha, but rather aimed to enhance coordination within the NDA. Additionally, Minister Rijiju mentioned that the Prime Minister is set to address the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha.

This follows a scathing attack by Mr. Gandhi in his new role as Leader of the Opposition, during which he accused the ruling party of attacking the Constitution and misusing probe agencies for political purposes. The Prime Minister intervened in response to Mr. Gandhi’s remarks, and the resulting protests from the treasury benches ensued.

The BJP leaders interpreted Mr. Gandhi’s comments as an insult to Hindus, while the Congress clarified that his remarks were aimed at the BJP and its ideological mentor, RSS.
