He expressed that it was an unfortunate incident and stated that Rahul Gandhi would go to Hathras to interact with the people affected by the stampede. Following the incident, Rahul Gandhi had expressed his condolences on social media. He extended his deep condolences to the bereaved families and called for swift recovery of the injured. Mr. Gandhi urged the government and administration to provide the best treatment to the injured and assistance to the affected families. He also requested INDIA workers to assist in the rescue work. The stampede occurred during a ‘satsang’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, where religious preacher Narayan Sakar Hari, also known as ‘Bhole Baba’, was leading. It is reported that about 2.5 lakh people from various parts of Uttar Pradesh and other states had gathered at the event. The stampede broke out when the self-styled godman was leaving and his followers rushed to collect dust stirred up by his car. The godman’s guards allegedly pushed some followers, leading to the stampede. Two days after the incident, ‘Bhole Baba’ remains missing and has issued a statement from an unknown location. His lawyer has assured cooperation with investigators. A Special Investigation Team is currently probing the incident, and the Yogi Adityanath government has established a three-member panel headed by a retired High Court judge to investigate the tragedy.
