The aftermath of the event saw slippers strewn across the road and cars with dented roofs around Marine Drive, due to fans climbing and dancing on them. One witness, Rishab Mahesh Yadav, described slipping in the crowd and falling unconscious due to suffocation. He criticized the lack of police alertness and the mismanagement of the event. Another witness, Ravi Solanki, also noted the crowd increase and lack of police management, causing chaos and unorganization. The celebrations caused huge traffic jams in South Mumbai, with the police stopping traffic towards Marine Drive, leading to chaos on alternate routes. The Wankhede stadium was packed, with top BCCI officials felicitating the players with a prize money of Rs 125 crore.
