Shreyas Iyer Admits Error Costing KKR Match Against CSK

On Monday, Ravindra Jadeja led the bowling attack for the hosts, setting the stage for a convincing seven-wicket victory for CSK on a slow Chepauk track. KKR started well despite losing Philip Salt’s wicket on the first ball, reaching 56/1 at the end of the powerplay.

However, they struggled to adapt to the pitch and couldn’t score runs effectively. KKR captain, Iyer, admitted that they failed to assess the pitch, leading to a loss of momentum after the powerplay.

Jadeja took three wickets for just 18 runs, while KKR’s spinners struggled against CSK and conceded 74 runs in 9.4 overs. KKR found it hard to score big hits on the tough pitch.

CSK’s spin trio of Jadeja, Maheesh Theekshana, and Rachin Ravindra combined to restrict KKR to 137/9. Iyer acknowledged that they initially aimed for a higher score but struggled due to consecutive wickets and the difficult conditions.

While chasing 138, CSK had a comfortable victory with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten 67 leading the way.
