Hema Malini Counters Congress Attack on Mathura Lok Sabha Seat Candidacy

Mukesh Dhangar, the Congress’s candidate in the temple town, has characterized the current election as a contest between “brijwasi” (Mathura residents) and “pravasi” (outsiders). In response to this statement during an exclusive interview with NDTV, Hema Malini stated that she considers herself a brijwasi due to her devotion to Lord Krishna and the work she has accomplished in the region. She emphasized the value of outsiders’ perspectives and experiences, stating that they can contribute to positive change in the community. Hema Malini highlighted her efforts as an MP and expressed her dedication to improving Mathura despite the challenges of traveling between Mumbai and Mathura.

Hema Malini was first elected from Mathura in the 2014 general election, defeating sitting MP Jayant Chaudhary. In the upcoming election, Mr. Chaudhary and his party are supporting her after RLD’s entry into NDA. Hema Malini welcomed this support, noting their common focus on the welfare of farmers and the poor. She also addressed the controversy surrounding Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala’s remarks about her, expressing confidence in her longstanding work and stating that she is not bothered by such incidents.

In response to derogatory remarks made by the social media handles of Congress spokesperson Surpiya Shrinate about BJP’s Mandi candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut, Hema Malini expressed confidence in Kangana’s abilities and success as a politician. She also mentioned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement about the misuse of freedom of expression to insult women.
