Jyotiraditya Scindia to Ensure Telecom Connectivity in All Villages Within 12 Months admin, July 27, 2024 Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), has been actively involved in addressing the telecommunications infrastructure in the country. He highlighted the commitment of the Prime Minister to achieve 100% connectivity in around 24,000 villages, including those in the northeastern states. To facilitate this, special funds have been allocated, and a scheme has been implemented to reach these villages within 12 months. In addition to the telecommunications initiatives, Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized the significant allocations for the northeastern states in the 2024-25 Union Budget. He noted the special emphasis placed on the region, highlighting funds earmarked for flood management, the establishment of India Post Payments Bank branches, and various schemes benefiting women, farmers, youth, and economically weaker sections. Scindia maintained that the increased monetary allocation to the DoNER ministry, additional funds from the devolution of central taxes, and investments in connectivity infrastructure indicate the government’s commitment to transforming the region into an engine of growth. He also mentioned upcoming industrial projects and cited the example of the significant semiconductor unit investment by the Tata Group as a ‘game changer’ for the North East.
