The Indian team’s ceremonial attire for the opening ceremony of the recent event has sparked controversy, with some criticizing the use of digital prints instead of traditional handloom and embroidery. In response to the criticism, the designer defended the choice, stating that it would have been impractical to produce handloom attire for 300 uniforms in the given time frame. He also explained that the design aimed to represent the colors of the Indian flag and that they followed guidelines which prohibited the use of the flag directly. The designer also emphasized that the attire was not created for profit but as a means of support for the athletes.

The ceremonial attire was described as drawing inspiration from the Indian flag and symbolizing national pride and unity. It was also highlighted that the use of contemporary silhouettes and practical fabrics aimed to ensure comfort and functionality for the athletes while balancing tradition with modernity. Despite the controversy, the designer stood by the choices made for the attire, stating that while he respects differing opinions, he believes in the importance of representing the tricolor as a symbol of national identity.
