Supreme Court’s Ruling on Lawrence Bishnoi’s Plea Against Investigation into Interview

The Supreme Court asked the gangster to approach the high court after a bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice S C Sharma said they were not inclined to interfere with the high court order. The bench emphasized that the matter should be investigated, considering that there are 73 cases filed against the gangster. The gangster’s counsel argued that he was not heard before the order was passed, and mentioned that multiple witnesses have been examined without any findings. The Supreme Court advised the gangster to take the matter to the high court.

In December of the previous year, the high court had ordered the registration of FIRs and a probe by a special investigation team (SIT) headed by IPS officer Prabodh Kumar into an interview involving Bishnoi. This order was issued during a hearing related to the use of mobile phones by inmates within jail premises. Bishnoi is one of the accused in the 2022 murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. In March of the previous year, a private news channel conducted two interviews of Bishnoi.
