Kerala has decided to form a special team to investigate allegations of sexual abuse in the Malayalam film industry. The decision comes after the release of the Hema Committee Report, which revealed instances of sexual harassment and exploitation in the industry. The Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan, stated that he trusts Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s assurance that legal action will be taken if the victims come forward with specific complaints.

The special investigation team will be led by a senior police officer and will include senior women police officers. The team will operate under the supervision of Crime Branch ADGP H Venkatesh. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has emphasized that appropriate action will be taken if any of those who provided testimony before the Hema Commission come forward with complaints.
