KC Tyagi resigns as JDU spokesperson under leadership of Nitish Kumar.

JDU leader Nitish Kumar has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new National Spokesperson in place of Sharad Tyagi. The party has cited “personal reasons” for Mr. Tyagi’s departure, although it is widely viewed as a move by JDU to control the damage caused by Tyagi’s controversial statements.

JDU, a significant ally of the BJP, supported the third Narendra Modi government when the BJP did not secure a majority in the general election. It has been reported that the BJP has been emphasizing the need for coordination among the NDA bloc’s ruling allies.

Tyagi’s remarks on several key issues such as the Waqf amendment Bill, Uniform Civil Code, and the war in Gaza were seen as embarrassing for JDU. His involvement in a statement against Israel, criticizing their actions in Gaza, also added to the party’s discomfort.

JDU sources have revealed that the 73-year-old leader often took stances on various issues without consulting the party leadership, causing confusion and friction between JDU and BJP. The party deemed his public statements on contentious issues as detrimental to their alliance and believed that he should have consulted before making public statements.

The decision to replace Tyagi with Rajiv Ranjan Prasad is seen as JDU’s effort to regain control and maintain a more unified stance within the alliance.
