Class 12 Student Mistaken for Cow Smuggler, Chased and Shot Dead in Haryana admin, September 2, 2024 Five members of a cow vigilante group were arrested for an attack on August 23, as per the police. The accused have been identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurabh. They reportedly mistook Aryan Mishra and his friends, Shanky and Harshit, for cattle smugglers and chased their car for about 30 kilometers near Haryana’s Gadhpuri on the Delhi-Agra National Highway. According to sources, the cow vigilantes had received information about cattle smugglers in Renault Duster and Toyota Fortuner cars scouting the city for cattle. The arrested accused spotted a Duster car at Patel Chowk and asked the driver, Harshit, to stop. However, Aryan and his friends did not stop as they believed they were being chased by individuals sent to harm them due to a rivalry. When Aryan and his friends did not stop, the accused opened fire at the car. A bullet hit Aryan near the neck, and he was shot again when the car finally stopped. The accused fled when they saw two women in the car and realized they might have shot the wrong person. Aryan succumbed to his injuries a day later at the hospital. The sources also revealed that the weapon used in the incident was illegal. The accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway. Haryana's Cow Vigilante Attack
