Manipur CM N Biren Singh denounces drone attacks on civilians as an act of terrorism.

The Manipur state government has taken the recent unprovoked assaults very seriously and has committed to responding decisively to combat terrorism targeting the indigenous population. This was emphasized by Mr. Singh, who also denounced all forms of violence and called for unity against hate, division, and separatism. The recent bomb attacks in Manipur marked the first instance of “hi-tech weapons” being used in the state, specifically the use of drones. The official response to the attack at Koutruk was prompt, with mobilization of armed forces and retaliatory firing.

The police forces, along with the Army and central forces, conducted combing operations to counter the situation. In response to these attacks, the police headquarters instructed all senior formations and district SPs to remain vigilant, alert all forces in their respective districts, and conduct joint operations by coordinating with central forces. Additionally, the Manipur government has ordered the state police to conduct combing operations and sanitization in areas bordering Imphal West district, where two people were killed and 12 others were injured in the attack by suspected militants.
