Kiren Rijiju rejects Zakir Naik’s “False Propaganda” about Waqf Amendment Bill.

Zakir Naik, a controversial preacher, has spoken out against a proposed law, urging Indian Muslims to reject it. He called the law’s potential effects “evil repercussions” and asked for at least 5 million rejections by September 13, providing a QR code and online petition URL for support. However, Union Minister Mr. Rijiju countered Naik’s statements, deeming them as “misleading” and “false propaganda.” He emphasized the importance of allowing people to have their own opinions in a democratic country and cautioned against spreading false information.

Naik, who is sought in India for alleged money laundering and hate speeches, left the country in 2016. The proposed Waqf Amendment Bill aims to make changes to the existing law on 44 points, including the inclusion of non-Muslim individuals, government officials, and the requirement to involve women. The Bill also outlines specific guidelines for the use of funds received by the Waqf Board. Mr. Rijiju has addressed the capture of Waqf boards by certain individuals, highlighting the Bill’s aim to bring justice to ordinary Muslims.
