Elon Musk Could Become First Trillionaire by 2027, Gautam Adani by 2028: Report

Elon Musk, the world’s richest person with a net worth of USD 237 billion, is projected to become the first trillionaire. This would require an average annual growth rate of 110 per cent, as stated in a recent report.

Following closely behind is Gautam Adani, ranked 13th on the world billionaire index with a wealth just under USD 100 billion. If his ports-to-power conglomerate maintains its current average annual growth rate of 123 per cent, he could potentially become the second trillionaire.

Mukesh Ambani, currently Asia’s richest with a net worth of USD 111 billion, is also a contender for trillionaire status. According to the report, he may achieve this milestone in 2033, with his oil-to-telecom-and-retail conglomerate projected to reach trillion-dollar market cap status in 2035.

Notably, his company, Reliance Industries Ltd, is the only Indian company forecasted to reach the trillion-dollar market cap mark. Other companies expected to reach trillion-dollar market cap status include Taiwan’s semiconductor maker TSMC, Berkshire Hathaway, pharma giant Eli Lilly, technology company Broadcom, and electric automobile firm Tesla.

The report points out that while no one has yet claimed trillionaire status, there are several likely candidates, including Elon Musk, Gautam Adani, NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang, Indonesian mogul Prajogo Pangestu, French businessman Bernard Arnault, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Currently, only a handful of companies have crossed the USD 1 trillion in valuation, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Saudi Aramco, and Meta.

Most recently, Berkshire Hathaway joined this elite club in late August, while Nvidia became the second most valuable company in the world, surpassing USD 3 trillion in valuation in June 2023.
