iPhone Production in India to Reach 25% of Global Shipments by 2025: Report admin, September 9, 2024 The latest report mentioned that the introduction of the mobile PLI scheme, alongside global supply chain diversification, is driving the surge in Apple’s local manufacturing in India. The tech giant is prepared to launch the latest iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in the country following the global debut on Monday. These models are set to be available in India right after the launch as part of Apple’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Apple’s goal is to manufacture over 50 million iPhones in India per year, with the aim of shifting some of its production out of China. iPhone exports from India saw a sharp increase to $12.1 billion in 2023-24 from $6.27 billion in 2022-23, with the company’s India operations reaching $23.5 billion in value in the last fiscal year. According to Jefferies, there is a rapid rise in electronics exports from India, yet there is still room for growth from a value addition perspective. The report also noted that electronics imports are more than double that of electronics exports, indicating potential for in-sourcing. The government is providing PLI across 14 sectors worth Rs 2 lakh crore and an additional Rs 70,000 crore to boost the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem to promote manufacturing in other sectors. Industry experts believe that Apple will build on its solid growth momentum in India with the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series. This growth is primarily driven by increased ‘Make in India’ manufacturing, and supported by aggressive marketing. With consumers increasingly prioritizing the newest generation of iPhones, there is potential for a 30% growth in comparison to the previous iPhone 15 generation in the launch quarter, according to Prabhu Ram, VP-Industry Research Group, CMR. *(Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed. )* Apple's Expansion in India
